Lectio Divina (meaning divine reading) is a great way to reflect on the Bible and figure out what God is saying to you. It’s simple to learn too!
Lectio Divina helps you discover the rich truths of Scripture through reading, meditation, prayer and contemplation. This method of reading the Bible is centuries old, and opens the way for the work of the Holy Spirit to help you understand what the Word of God means for daily life.
Use the tabs below to help you learn Lectio Divina. Find a quiet place, away from distractions like the TV, friends or work, and ask God to meet you as you open his Word. Oh, and don’t forget to switch off your phone!
Read through a passage out loud a few times, slowly, listening for any words or phrases that stand out to you. After each reading have a moment of silence.
What words or thoughts stood out to you? Where does it connect with your life? What do you think God is saying to you?
Listen to hear what God is saying. Respond to God in prayer – praise or cry, dance or draw – respond in a way that makes sense to you.
So what? What are you going to change as a result of what you've read? What difference can you make in the world? In someone else's life? In your own life?
